Juventus testing Liverpool with £23million deadline day bid for midfielder

The 23-year-old has entered the final year of his contract at Anfield but Liverpool have yet to secure a new deal for the midfielder, with negotiations currently at an impasse.

Juventus will make a final bid to sign Emre Can from Liverpool for £23million today.

Can has just over 10 months remaining on his Liverpool contract and is refusing to sign a new deal.

The Reds could lose him on a free transfer next summer, with Juventus his likely destination.

Juve have been public in their interest of Can, with director Beppe Marotta expressing his desire to snap up the German.

The Serie A giants are willing to wait until January to discuss a free transfer with the midfielder at the end of the season.

But Italian newspaper La Stampa claim a final move to sign Can on a permanent deal this summer will be lodged before today’s 11pm transfer deadline.

The reasoning behind this is Claudio Marchisio’s recent injury, which rules the Italian out for a month and leaves a space in Juve’s midfield.

Furthermore, the defending Serie A champions yesterday had a loan offer for Barcelona’s Andre Gomes knocked back by the Catalan club.

Can has started the season in fine form and scored twice in the Champions League playoff second leg defeat of Hoffenheim.

The 23-year-old remains in talks over a new contract at Anfield, but Liverpool could be tempted to cash in, aware that he could walk away for nothing next summer.

Liverpool midfielder at risk of summer clearance

Liverpool FC completed the signing of Charlie Adam from Blackpool late Thursday evening. Adam becomes Liverpool’s second signings this summer.

While Liverpool has added two new central midfielders in their roster, clearly someone has to go. Raul Meireles is the midfielder most vulnerable as Liverpool stockpile central midfielders.

Raul Meireles Technically Meireles was excellent. But aggressively he was lacking. Based on last season he won 38 tackles and lost 20. And in the English Premier League that’s not good enough.

Charlie Adam isn’t renowned for his tackling. But Adam still won 162 tackles last term.

Meireles is also 28-years-old – and demanding improved terms on his contract.

Italian giants, Juventus and Inter Milan are reportedly monitoring Meireles’ situation at Anfield closely. Liverpool failure to strike a deal with Juventus for Alberto Aquilani after a season loan has increased the possibility of Meireles’ exit.

Even though, Meireles has a good first season with Liverpool, he looks the most likely to make way in the great Anfield shake up this summer.

Aquilani to Milan?

Alberto Aquilani's agent believes the Liverpool midfielder's future could be decided in the next 24 hours.

The Italian midfielder has spent this season on loan at Juventus, but the Turin giants failed to exercise their first buy-out option to sign the player on a permanent basis, which expired last month.

Alberto Aquilani Juventus have been looking to reduce the fee agreed between the clubs at the beginning of the loan deal, putting into doubt a permanent switch to Turin.

Aquilani's representative, Franco Zavaglia, expects Juventus to make a decision on the former Roma man in the next 24 hours with AC Milan waiting in the wings for the 26-year-old.

"All season Juventus have always given me the necessary guarantees that they want to keep Alberto," Zavaglia told Tutto Juve.

"The next 24 hours will be decisive. Any eventual economic agreements will follow after Juventus make their decision."

Zavaglia admits Aquilani would be interested in a possible move to Serie A champions Milan if the Juve deals falls through.

"Who wouldn't like to play for Milan? Milan are a model club," added Zavaglia.

"If Juventus can't do a deal for Alberto and he has to return to Liverpool, then Milan would certainly be a destination that he would accept."

Sevilla winger on Liverpool radar

Liverpool boss Kenny Dalglish had hoped to land Aston Villa winger Young to supply chances for Andy Carroll and Luis Suarez next season, but the England international is believed to have expressed a preference for a move to Old Trafford.

Diego Perotti Promising winger Diego Perotti has attracted the interest of Premier League side Liverpool with his good performances for Sevilla in the 2010-11 campaign.

The Reds are apparently willing to pay £7 million to secure the 22-year-old signature, but face competition from Juventus.

Sevilla are hoping a bidding war will develop and that they can push the price for the Argentina international up to £8.5 million.

The Italian giants’ involvement in the transfer is an interesting twist, considering Liverpool is already in a tug of war style talk with Juventus over the movement of on loan Alberto Aquilani.

Should the Italians snare Perotti from Liverpool, Dalglish may be a lot less willing to negotiate a lower price than the €16 million set for Aquilani’s permanent release.

Duo leaves Anfield for loan move

Liverpool have confirmed Alberto Aquilani has completed the formalities of his loan switch to Juventus.

The Italian midfielder, who successfully completed his medical earlier this week, has put pen to paper on a one-year loan deal, with Juventus having the option of making the move permanent at the end of the season.

Juventus also announced that an agreement has been reached with Liverpool for the loan of Alberto Aquilani with the option to buy the player at the end of the season for £13million.

Meanwhile, Krisztian Nemeth has joined Greek outfit Olympiacos.

The Hungary international was signed from MTK Hungaria in 2007 but despite several pre-season first team appearances, he never made his bow at a competitive level.

Nemeth will now team up with former Reds winger Albert Riera at Olympiacos.

I wish them all the best in their footballing career.

Juventus forward on Liverpool’s radar

David Trezeguet's agent claims Liverpool are interested in signing the Juventus forward.

Reports in Italy claim Liverpool made an enquiry for Trezeguet after allowing Alberto Aquilani to join Juve on loan.

Reds boss Roy Hodgson is keen to bolster his attacking options before the close of the transfer window and he is believed to be considering a swoop for French international Trezeguet.

Trezeguet's future at Juve has been the subject of speculation for some time with the Frenchman dropping down the pecking order at the Bianconeri.

The player's agent, Antonio Caliendo, admits Liverpool and Spanish duo Real Zaragoza and Hercules are chasing Trezeguet's signature.

"An interest from Liverpool? There are requests, not just of Liverpool.

"In Spain there is the interest of Real Zaragoza and Hercules.

"We are considering offers, today is a day of reflection, we will know more tomorrow." Caliendo told calciomercato.it.

Transfer rumours: Poulsen to Liverpool?

The most likely departure for Liverpool will be Javier Mascherano to Inter Milan. Juventus midfielder Christian Poulsen is in the sights of Liverpool.

Despite widespread speculation that Mascherano is ready to rejoin his former manager, Rafael Benitez, at Inter, Liverpool are adamant that there has been no formal contact with the European champions and deny that any talks have taken place over his future.

Liverpool do have a fall-back position if and when Mascherano leaves, with Poulsen the likeliest candidate to replace him as a defensive midfielder. Poulsen has been a long-term target for Liverpool and was linked with a move to Anfield last summer before Benitez opted to sign injury-prone Alberto Aquilani.

Although the Dane's agent, Joern Bonnessen, has said the midfielder wants to stay with Juventus, he is unlikely to feature much this season and Liverpool could secure his services for around £6million – the fee the Turin club agreed with Fenerbahce last June only for Poulsen to reject the deal when he was unable to agree personal terms.

Juventus not interested in Liverpool midfielder

Juventus president Giovanni Cobolli Gigli insists the Serie A giants are not interested in signing Liverpool midfielder.

Speculation is rife that Juventus have joined the race to sign Xabi Alonso, who they tried to tempt to the Stadio Olimpico last year.

“For the midfield, there are many names. But Xabi Alonso's not one of those",

"I read in the press about our interest for him. He's a good player, but I think that saying I've read his name in papers is where it ends." – Cobolli Gigli.

I'm going there - Xabi Alonso Cobolli Gigli also revealed that Juventus are still interested in Udinese playmaker Gaetano D'Agostino despite their bid hitting several stumbling blocks.

However, Cobolli Gigli claims they are not in the hunt for Alonso, who has also been linked with Barcelona and Real Madrid.

Juventus wouldn't be able to match the amount that Real Madrid would bid, which is rumoured to be between £25m and £35m, with it now looking increasingly like the Spanish international is actually going to be leaving Anfield?
